English as an Additional Language

The school says applicants whose first language is not English must attend its specialist EAL lessons until they reach the level it requires. This confirms a support route; it does not by itself establish the teaching language for every subject.

Support and school life

These give pupils ways to ask for help and contribute to school life. Discuss any specialist learning or health needs separately with admissions.

New Sixth Form boarding entry — 2026/27

2026/2027 · Per term
Full boarding: new Sixth Form entry£21,255
Weekly boarding: new Sixth Form entry£17,735

These rates apply to new Sixth Form entrants; they are distinct from the Years 9–13 boarding rows in the main table. The fee page states annual fees are split into three equal termly amounts and labels quoted school fees inclusive of applicable taxes. Its general 2026/27 contract contains different tax wording; obtain written confirmation for the actual invoice and any extras.

Published acceptance and visa administration payments — 2026/27

2026/2027 · Payment type stated in category
Acceptance deposit: standard admissions£1,000
Acceptance deposit: deferred 13+ day or boarding entry£2,000
Administration for applicants requiring visa sponsorship£300

The August 2026 Admissions Policy gives these current amounts. The two acceptance deposits are alternatives for different entry routes, not charges to add together. Families resident outside the UK also require an additional deposit equivalent to one term’s fee upon acceptance; it is not reduced to a guessed cash amount here. The visa administration charge is conditional on sponsorship, not an application fee. The policy does not separately specify tax treatment or a repetition period for that charge.

Optional LAMDA tuition — published 2026/27 rates

Solo: listed lesson rate£33
Paired: listed 40-minute lesson rate£16.5
Group of 3: listed 40-minute lesson rate£11
Examination administration: one-off at start of year£10

The school’s page prints the solo duration as “40 lesson”, so no exact solo lesson length is asserted. Visiting teachers invoice parents directly and lessons begin after payment. Paired/group entries reproduce the published rates; confirm the individual pupil’s invoice basis. Examination fees are extra. Teacher scheduling varies, so no term or annual total has been calculated. Ask whether these visiting-teacher charges include VAT.

Termly payment, tax wording and additional charges

The fees page labels2026/27 school fees inclusive of applicable taxes and says senior day lunches are currently VAT-exempt. However, clause 4.1 of the separately linked2026/27 Parent Contract says fees are quoted exclusive of taxes, added where applicable. Keep the published tariff amounts as quoted and ask the school to confirm the applicable written invoice rather than adding an assumed VAT uplift. The contract requires cleared term fees before term begins; parents with a UK bank account are expected to use direct debit unless another agreement is made. Extras can include compulsory lunch where applicable, school transport, additional tuition, house charges and public examinations; their amounts are not all quoted. Educational visits are payable in advance through Wisepay.

Acceptance deposits, leaving and notice

The 2026/27 Parent Contract says acceptance and applicable additional deposits are held until the pupil leaves and normally repaid by credit without interest, net of amounts owed, subject to the contract’s exceptions; parents may instead donate a proportion to the school bursary fund. They are not ordinary recurring tuition and should not be counted twice as a fee plus a repayment. The current Admissions Policy requires an additional one-term deposit from families residing outside the UK; confirm the fee category and amount on the offer. For withdrawal after the applicable cancellation period, the contract generally requires one term’s written notice for day pupils or two terms for boarders, or the corresponding fees in lieu, with stated exceptions. Insufficient notice can affect the acceptance deposit. Read the applicable offer and full contract before committing.

LAMDA examination and lesson invoicing

LAMDA tuition is an optional separately invoiced service. The school lists approximately 12 autumn, 10 spring and 8 summer lessons, but says the teacher may schedule fewer and the year will not exceed 30; these are not guaranteed instalments. Examination fees become payable when the pupil is entered six weeks before the examination and are not normally refundable on withdrawal; illness may qualify for a discretionary partial transfer voucher. Confirm the examination charge and paired/group pupil rate with the visiting teacher before enrolment.
