The official 2026/27 fee image lists Category 1 tuition at NOK 277,680 per year for Kindergarten–Grade 12. Eligibility-limited Category 2 is NOK 138,900 per year for Kindergarten–Grade 9 or NOK 257,100 for Grades 10–12. Early Years tuition is NOK 1,200 per month and is adjusted each January; snacks are separate. One-time application and registration fees apply. Compare only the category for which the child qualifies, and request a complete written budget.

Confirm the entry age and fee category

The current official pages disagree on the youngest admission age: one, two or three years depending on the page. Early Years ages 1–4 are marked waitlisted in the FAQ. ISS teaches in English, but offers EAL assessment and support. Before applying, confirm age eligibility, grade placement, fee category and additional charges for this child.

Which tuition category can the family use?

The 2026/27 policy places new families in Category 1 whether they pay privately or receive direct or indirect company or organisation sponsorship. Category 2 has a limited number of places in each grade and is for families without such sponsorship who have limited means to pay the full fee. Applications normally start in April, with approval in May; exceptional applications may be considered outside that window. Status is reviewed when moving from Primary to Middle and from Middle to High School, and changes in resources or sponsorship can move a pupil to Category 1. Category 2 offers a 10% discount for additional siblings, but each sibling needs a separate application and does not qualify automatically. Ask which category is approved before comparing prices.

Application and registration are separate payments

The application fee is payable when applying and is not refunded if no place is offered or if the application is withdrawn. The registration fee is also non-refundable and is invoiced with tuition on enrolment. It is not charged as part of Early Years fees, but is charged when an Early Years pupil moves to Kindergarten (Year 1). Keep these one-time charges separate from tuition when checking the invoice.

Annual and quarterly billing

Company- or organisation-sponsored families are invoiced from May for the full school year, with 30 days to pay. Privately paying Kindergarten–Grade 12 families are invoiced quarterly on 1 August, 1 October, 1 January and 1 March, with 14 days to pay. Joining during a quarter normally means paying for the whole quarter. Families remain responsible if their sponsor does not pay. The school may charge late-payment interest at the Norwegian government rate and may exclude a pupil if fees remain unpaid 30 days after their due date. Ask for the actual invoice dates and any late charges.

Late-entry reductions depend on who pays

For company- or organisation-sponsored Category 1 pupils, the 2026/27 policy says late-start adjustments may be available: 100% of annual tuition for entry by 31 December, 75% for entry after 31 December, and 50% for entry after 15 March. Obtain approval for the child’s actual start date rather than applying these percentages to another category. Privately paying pupils who join during a quarter are billed for the entire quarter. The policy also mentions possible Lånekassen support for eligible privately paying Grades 10–12 pupils; the authority decides eligibility, and families should confirm the conditions separately.

Early Years billing and withdrawal dates

Privately paying Early Years families receive ten monthly invoices from mid-August to mid-May, with 14 days to pay. Each covers a period from the 15th to the middle of the following month, and a pupil starting during a period is charged for that whole period. The monthly tuition changes each January, so do not assume one unchanged monthly price for the entire school year. Snacks and late pickup are additional. Sibling and low-income reductions follow national and municipal rules; ask the school and municipality what applies. For withdrawal, the policy requires at least three months’ written notice, with the notice period starting on the 15th of the month after receipt. Its withdrawal clause also refers to 1 August–1 March; confirm how that window applies to the intended notice and leaving dates. Failure to follow the procedure can result in three months’ tuition being billed.

Withdrawal notice and sponsor credits

For Kindergarten–Grade 12, the policy requires at least three months’ written notice before leaving during the school year. Families billed quarterly must also give at least three months’ notice before the next billing quarter; otherwise the following quarter is payable. Cash tuition refunds are not given. If a sponsored pupil leaves early, a credit is issued to the company or organisation and may be used by another pupil enrolling later in the same school year; unused credits expire at the end of that year. The Early Years section has the same sponsor-credit and no-cash-refund provisions. Settle outstanding charges and return borrowed materials before leaving, and confirm the final bill in writing.
