International school fees in Prague 2026/27: tuition, deposits and first-year costs

Published 30 October 2026 · Updated 30 October 2026 · AI-assisted SchoolMatch Europe editorial · Sources and approach

A first-year school bill in Prague can include tuition, a yearly capital contribution, joining charges and money held as a deposit. Each affects your budget differently. A deposit credited against tuition changes payment timing; a refundable deposit ties up cash; a non-refundable admission charge increases the cost of joining.

The worked examples below use official 2026/27 schedules checked on 30 October 2026. They cover selected senior-school categories, with each school’s own stage labels. These are partial calculations for a full school year, rather than complete family budgets, current mid-year quotations or promises of a place. For schools and locations, start with the Prague school directory.

Three published fee structures, read separately

Riverside’s schedule explicitly maps Years 12–13 to Grades 11–12 and ages 16–17 on 1 September 2026. English College identifies its Year 5 with UK Year 12, while ISP determines placement from age and previous schooling. These examples therefore retain their original labels. The figures do not establish identical entry eligibility, subjects or provision.

A listed sum does not mean every item falls due together. Obtain the invoice dates, required services and withdrawal terms before committing. Unknown charges have not been treated as zero.

English College: distinguish the qualification route and held deposits

The IB-only Years 5–6 price is CZK 540,000 annually, or CZK 180,000 per term. The combined IB and Maturita route costs CZK 468,000 annually. Selecting the lower row without checking the intended programme would change the comparison. The school’s current entry guidance also describes Year 5 applications as exceptional; confirm the relevant intake before planning around that category.[1]

For the IB-only example, CZK 540,000 + CZK 50,000 + CZK 15,000 gives CZK 605,000 in known full-year cash items. The two deposits total CZK 65,000 and are described as refundable, so they should remain separate from the amount you expect permanently to spend. The reviewed fee page does not spell out their complete return conditions. It requires one full term’s notice of departure before the end of Year 6, otherwise a further term’s fees apply.

Specified induction and year-end trips include accommodation, transport and food; IB and IGCSE examination charges are included. This does not establish that every trip or individually needed service is covered.

ISP: count the capital assessment once

ISP publishes tuition and its annual capital assessment in separate columns, then gives a combined total. For Grades 11–12, CZK 753,000 plus CZK 78,000 equals CZK 831,000. An eligible new pupil’s CZK 9,000 application fee and CZK 52,000 newcomers’ fee bring the identified first-year items to CZK 892,000. Adding the capital assessment again to CZK 831,000 would count it twice.[2]

The newcomers’ charge has exceptions, including students returning within either of the two academic years after departure. ISP’s separate CZK 78,000 re-enrolment deposit is for returning pupils, not this new-pupil example. It is non-refundable but credited against fees, so it also must not be added again. Application, newcomers’ and capital charges are non-refundable; tuition refunds follow a separate financial-quarter policy. Ask which services and payment arrangements apply to your family.

Riverside: the payment deadline changes the quoted price

Riverside lists CZK 707,000 as the discounted annual payment for Years 12–13. Its terms require annual payment before 30 June. That 2026 deadline has passed, so a family enquiring now should not assume the discount remains available. The standard schedule explicitly names three termly payments of CZK 248,000; their calculated full-year sum is CZK 744,000.[3]

Adding the CZK 10,000 application charge and CZK 12,000 deposit produces CZK 766,000 in identified cash items. A withdrawn application forfeits both payments. Later deposit-return conditions include settled accounts, returned school property and one full term’s notice. English-language support is separately priced at CZK 63,000 annually, without the annual-payment discount; it is excluded from this example until its applicability is confirmed. Meals, transport and other relevant extras still need a quotation.

Two more payment rules worth checking

PBIS’s 2026/27 discounted annual column required payment by 1 June 2026. Pupils joining after the school year starts qualify for an annual discount only from the following academic year. Its schedule includes needed English-language teaching and learning support, while examination estimates and other extras are separate.[4]

Park Lane’s 2026/27 terms provide another deposit example: CZK 50,000 is deducted from the following tuition invoice. It is a credited prepayment, not an additional CZK 50,000 on top of the same tuition. Withdrawal after paying forfeits that deposit. Its separate CZK 10,000 application charge is non-refundable.[5]

Request a bill for the child who will actually attend

Give admissions the entry stage, start date and required support. Ask for annual tuition, compulsory contributions, joining charges, held deposits and optional services on separate lines, with due dates and refund conditions. The reviewed schedules do not establish VAT treatment; request the applicable invoice without assuming a tax rate. These 2026/27 figures do not predict next year’s tariffs.
